On Monday 28 November we visited Lalomanu
Primary School and met up with the Principal, Mrs Maulalo L. Ioane, and the
school teachers, Maria Iosefo, Palolo Isamaeli, Feto’aimatumua Keti, Fa’auga
Afioga and Letogo Fatu. We also met the two library assistants who have been
lately working at the Clea Salavert Library, Lata and Seira.
Lalomanu Primary School students have been
regularly reading books at the library and enjoying the world of reading. The
Library remains in very good condition, and the library assistants took the
opportunity to make a couple of requests for various materials they needed.

The Lalomanu community continues to rebuild
after the tsunami of 29 September 2009. The beach resorts have rebuilt many
fales and other facilities and amenities, while in the nearby villages houses
continue to be built. Only the road continues to be in a shocking condition,
and the approaching wet season will worsen things for people travelling in and
out of Lalomanu.

El lunes 28 de noviembre visitamos la Escuela Primaria
de Lalomanu y nos reunimos con la Directora, la Sra. Maulalo L. Ioane, y el
profesorado de la escuela: Maria Iosefo, Palolo Isamaeli, Feto’aimatumua Keti,
Fa’auga Afioga y Letogo Fatu. También nos reunimos con las dos ayudantes
bibliotecarias que han estado trabajando últimamente en la Biblioteca Clea Salavert,
Lata y Seira.
Los alumnos de Lalomanu llevan
ya un tiempo haciendo uso de la
biblioteca y disfrutando del placer de la lectura. La Biblioteca sigue en muy
buen estado, y aprovechamos la visita para tomar nota de los materiales que
precisan las bibliotecarias.
La comunidad de Lalomanu
sigue reconstruyéndose tras el tsunami del 29 de septiembre de 2009. Los
alojamientos de la playa han reconstruido muchos fales y otras instalaciones, mientras que en los pueblecitos
cercanos siguen construyéndose casas. Únicamente
la carretera permanece en un estado verdaderamente deplorable, y la estación de
las lluvias que acaba de iniciarse empeorará sin duda los accesos a Lalomanu.

Dilluns passat, 28 de novembre, visitarem l’Escola Primària de Lalomanu i
parlarem amb la Directora, la Sra. Maulalo L. Ioane, i els altres mestres,
Maria Iosefo, Palolo Isamaeli, Feto’aimatumua Keti, Fa’auga Afioga i Letogo
Fatu. També parlarem amb les dues bibliotecàries que han estat treballant
darrerament a la Biblioteca Clea Salavert, Lata i Seira.
Els estudiants de Lalomanu han estat llegint llibres a la biblioteca i
gaudint del món de la lectura. La Biblioteca segueix en molt bon estat, i
aprofitarem la visita per prendre nota d’un parell de cosetes que els feien
falta.
La comunitat de Lalomanu
continua reconstruint després del tsunami del 29 de setembre de 2009. Els
allotjaments a la platja han reconstruït molts fales i altres
instal·lacions, mentre que als pobles propers a Lalomanu es continuen construint
cases. Només la carretera continua estant en una condició vergonyosa, i
l'estació de les pluges que va començar fa poc temps empitjorarà sens dubte els
accessos a Lalomanu.
It was great to see the library in such good condition and so well looked after. When I told the students that I was pleased that they were using the library, they all clapped and smiled. I think they like the library!
